2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

¾ cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup brown sugar

1 large egg

1 tbsp red food coloring

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

In another bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.

Add egg, vanilla, and red food coloring; mix until combined.

Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.

Fold in chocolate chips.

Scoop dough onto baking sheet, spacing evenly.

Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set.

Cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes

Do not overbake to keep cookies soft and chewy

Chill dough 20 minutes if cookies spread too much
